Flappy Bird
Tap the canvas or press Space to flap. Avoid the pipes!
How to play Flappy Bird.
The rules could not be simpler. Tap the canvas or press Space to make the bird flap upward; let go and gravity pulls it back down. Your job is to thread the bird through the gap in each pair of pipes. Touch a pipe, the ground or the ceiling and the run ends instantly — your score is the number of pipes you cleared.
Flappy Bird became a phenomenon in 2013 and 2014, a free mobile game from Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen that climbed to the top of the app charts before he famously removed it at the height of its popularity. Its reputation for being punishingly hard is well earned — and it is exactly that difficulty that makes "one more try" so irresistible.
A few things help. Use small, frequent taps rather than big ones — the bird responds fast, and over-flapping sends it crashing into the top pipe. Find a steady rhythm instead of reacting in panic. Aim for the middle of each gap, which leaves room for error on both sides. And look ahead to the next pipe rather than the one you are passing, so you are always set up for the gap to come.
